It’s Not About You

Being someone who’s constantly looking at the dark cloud that happens to be near every silver lining, I’m constantly down on myself. I think it’s one of the reasons that I’m having so much trouble getting my own fiction written, why I feel stymied and stumped with other creative projects, why things generally seem more than a

The Courage to Do What’s Write – How Understanding Different Cultures Can Help your Writing

But what you can do is seek out people who are from a region or country and talk to them. Find out the little details. And double checking your research with more than one resource will help too. The Gamification of Writing

According to Wikipedia, “gamification is the use of game thinking and game mechanics in a non-game context in order to engage users and solve problems”. It’s a term I’ve in a lot of my feeds over the last couple of years, but it wasn’t until the last few months that I began to realize how

Captain’s Review – A Few Good Men

A Few Good Men I was a fan of Darkship Thieves when it came out, and when I was (fortunately) stranded in a local bookstore (Book People in Austin is great), I saw that the second book in the series – Darkship Renegades was out. I was understandably excited. If you’re a fan of Heinlein’s

The Courage to Do What’s Write – First Contact Day

But my question is, is the price to get there too high. According to the Star Trek time line in order for us to get to First Contact day we have to go through world war 3. According to Memory Alpha in 2053 (Only 40 years from now): World War III ends with a nuclear holocaust resulting in the deaths of some six hundred million Humans. Earth begins its long journey towards recovery.

The Courage To Do what’s Write – Not your Father’s Egg Salad [Recipe]

Last night on the Galley Table, our Captain challenged us to come up with new topics to write about here on our site. One of the things that he came up with, and I think it was kind of a joke, but heck you don’t joke around me and expect not to have it bite

Courage to Do What’s Write – Getting Back To Writing After A Tragedy

Updated – Go TO OUR Discussion Group On G+ To Leave a Comment. I want to start this by saying: I have no answers. I have no solutions. I have nothing. I won’t pretend to know anything. What I do have is an experience and a need to get back to doing what I love.

UnKillable by Patrick E. McLean – A Review

Unkillable by Patrick E. McLean My rating: 4 of 5 stars This is not really a zombie story. That is the first thing I want to say. And for that I am really grateful. I have never really been a fan of the while zombie thing. No, it isn’t a Zombie book, Unkillable is a
